Olympia Press was started in Paris in 1953 by Maurice Girodias. His father Jack Kahane had published erotica from Henry Miller, Anais Nin and others in the '30s, so it was following in his father's footsteps as he assembled a new group of writers to publish smut. (Interesting historic note: Olympia Press also published, amidst the rest, some important titles like William S. Burroughs 'Naked Lunch', as well as being the first to publish Nabokov's 'Lolita'.) Now the titles Olympia Press has rights to are starting to be released in digital form via Olympia eBooks. So far there are 13 titles offered, for a mere $1 each, along with 3 titles offered free if you'd like to try the service. You'll find Henry Miller, the Marquis de Sade, Pauline Reage and others. Files can be downloaded in several formats: Acrobat, zipped HTML, Isilo, Microsoft Reader, Mobipocket and Rocket ebook. Payment is via credit card, in USD or Euro.
